ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Requirements for Engineering in India 2026-27
Academic Qualification
10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized board. Minimum 75% marks in PCM for IITs/NITs (65% for SC/ST) or top 20 percentile in board exams.
Entrance Exam Requirements
JEE Main mandatory for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. JEE Advanced required for IITs. State exams accepted for respective state colleges. Minimum 75% in boards for JEE Advanced eligibility (65% for SC/ST).
Age Requirement
No upper age limit for JEE Main. For JEE Advanced, candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2001 (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/PwD).
Number of Attempts
JEE Main: 3 consecutive years. JEE Advanced: Maximum 2 attempts in consecutive years. Candidates must have passed 12th in the year of examination or previous year.
